About Rock Catering

We’ve found ourselves in a camp kitchen in the wilds of Knoydart shovelling food into a bunch of ultra-hungry ultra-runners, in a bustling stadium kitchen prepping lunch for hopeful hospitality guests, on site at Fringe by the Sea festival keeping the cast and crew going with three meals a day or at home in the kitchen of a private estate serving up freshly-landed seafood or local game.

Wherever we find ourselves, we produce a food experience that’s as memorable as the occasion.

Event Catering

Rock Catering has the skills and know-how to cater for events both big and small and in venues both big and small, even the great outdoors! With over twenty years’ experience, we’re a solid team with solid credentials.

Private Chefing

Rock Catering is an approved in-house caterer for Greencraig and Gosford House in East Lothian and Letterewe in Torridon, cooking for private guests on the estates. We can also bring our kitchen into your own home, chefing for lunch or dinner parties or social gatherings. We take a very collaborative approach to menu planning, working to the budgets and requirements of every client.

Container Bars

About Niall Middleton

A highly experienced professional in the catering and licensed trade in Scotland, Niall has forged a career spanning over twenty years at the helm of several successful businesses operating in the sector. Niall’s first venture was Uber Eats for the 90s - an exclusive Edinburgh restaurant delivery service, before he moved into catering in the early noughties setting up 24-7 Catering and Events. Preferred caterers to a number of prestigious venues including Lennoxlove, the Royal College of Physicians, Winton House and the Assembly Rooms, 24-7 also had lucrative corporate contracts for Scottish Cricket, Edinburgh Rugby and the Edinburgh Festival.

Between 2004 and 2008, Niall owned and managed a boutique hotel in the capital before gaining a foothold in the licensed trade, where he at one time operated four leased pubs in Edinburgh and East Lothian.

The pandemic stimulated in Niall, as with a great many other people, a re-evaluation of a great many things.  Now a part-time psychology student, Niall ditched the bricks-and-mortar bars but still has his fingers firmly in the catering pie, chefing for events and venues both big and small through Rock Catering, based in East Lothian. Niall is also a director of container bar supplier Cargo Bars and a Personal Licence Holder.
